Fashion (non)sense

Beggars can’t be choosers.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the course of my time as my mother, it’s that.  And when it comes to baby clothes?  We are TOTAL beggars.  We have actually purchased- our actual selves- probably about 50 dollars worth of clothing for Benjy.  Okay, maybe 100.  But everything else has come from other sources.

And this means that sometimes Benjy doesn’t match.

Especially when it comes to his outerwear.

And, unfortunately in Finland, kids have to wear outerwear in all its various forms throughout the year.  Benjy’s winter suit just got traded in for a spring suit- a pair of fully waterproof coveralls kids wear when playing outside.  But his hat, mittens, and boots match his winter suit- not his spring suit.

You remember this awesome photo:

Add to that some light blue mittens, these OH SO STYLISH red sunglasses,

and some dark blue snow boots, and you have a regular fashion plate.

Thank goodness the camera wasn’t pointed in the opposite direction (i.e. at ME) otherwise, you would have seen another tragic fashion victim in too-big maternity jeans, a bright blue snow coat, pink scarf, blue kid’s fleece winter hat, and grey and red hiking boots.  HOT HOT HOT.

You are very wise indeed. Everytime I’m at a yard sale I cringe when I think of all the money we could have saved had we not purchased all new items for our kids, especially when they wore the clothes for so short a time or barely played with the toys.

    “new” clothes coming your way!
