Okay, so now it’s time for the last installment of marriage week. The super sappy “Man oh man, am I glad I married this guy” post. Here are a just two reasons-
1. This house:
This is a giant house in Masala, Kirkkonummi. It was built in the 1930′s and now is totally and completely dilapidated. And I wanted to buy it. Sincerely wanted to buy it. Buy it, renovate it, and turn it into an event centre/ bed and breakfast (don’t know if you’re aware, but it’s one of my dreams to own an event centre/b&b. I contacted the real estate agent, got the information, and then sat down with Olli and had him read it (it was in Finnish). And do you know what he said? He said, “Sarah, I don’t think this is a good idea.” He didn’t say, “No way, Jose. That’s just stupid.” He didn’t say, “What happened to your idea of owning a restaurant downtown that you had, like, two months ago?” He didn’t say, “Never ever, never ever.” He very patiently listened to me get excited. He let me go on for days as I argued about how we could do it- how perfect it would be- how it would ultimately be a good investment.
But he balanced me. He asked the hard questions. He didn’t get swept away by the romantic idea of turning an old house into a beautiful mansion. And that’s good.
I still think that we could buy this house. I still think that I’d make a darn fine event venue owner (and SOMEDAY I will), but I’m so glad that if (and when) we do buy a property, it’ll be a sound investment, because I’ve got stable, solid Olli making sure that I don’t do anything too, too crazy.
2. He took these photos of Benjy and me. And for that, I love him.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww YOU SHOULD DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! I am so not balanced and easily swept away by romantic ideas – could you imagine living at your own b & b? And making breakfast for all your guests? ohhhh lovely.
I’m blessed to have a husband who is the same way. Thank goodness!
